Grandma’s a Bridesmaid!

“She asked me about 10 times, ‘Are you sure?’ and ‘Why would you want an old lady in your bridal party?'”, says Philadelphia native Christine Quinn, about the time she asked her grandmother, 89-year-old Nana Betty to join her bridal party as a bridesmaid.

And with that, grandma’s a bridesmaid!  Have a look at the beautiful pictures below.

Christine told The Huffington Post that the decision to ask her grandma to be in the bridal party was a no-brainer; she considers Nana Betty one of her best friends.

“While she doesn’t live that close, we have continually made it a point to spend as much time together as possible,” she adds. “She just has an amazing sense of humor and outlook on life that I strive to emulate every day. Everyone loves her.”

Julie Melton of Sweetwater Photography was on hand to capture these sweet moments between Quinn and Nana Betty as they celebrated together in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania.

“She was adorable,” Melton shared in a blog post on the wedding. “Nana Betty could keep up with the non-stop shenanigans.”

To this, our bride adds: “Nana got on the party bus with the rest of the wedding party instead of ‘going home to rest’ but did not tell my mom (her daughter). She also danced the entire night away, including an adorable moment when she and my husband’s grandmother, Bellsie, danced together. It was amazing.”
